League Rules



new Face Masks
Mandatory Face Masks
  • All new players will be required to wear a full face mask
  • Existing players will require a minimum of ½ visor but we highly recommend full visor or cage.

Palyoff Game Defaults
A defaulted game during the playoffs will result in a 3-0 loss for the defaulting team

Spares
  • You may take a spare from another team during the regular season up to a maximum of 8 players
  • There will be no spares (players) during the playoff
  • Spare goaltenders during the playoffs will need to be approved


Timing
1st period 17 minutes: Stop Time
2nd period 17 minutes: Stop Time

Icing
Blue Line Icing
  • JaBog uses the “Blue line” as icing not the center ice line.
  • If the puck is cleared from inside your blue line to the other end it is icing.
  • If the puck is cleared between your blue line and center ice to other end – no icing.

Face- Off
Players Must be squared away, warn once, If they do not square away, throw them out of the circle.

Body Contact
Minor penalty

High Stick
Contacting or attempting to contact the puck with the stick above the normal height of the shoulders is prohibited. When it occurs, play shall be stopped immediately and a Minor penalty shall be assessed to the offending player.

A Minor penalty shall be assessed to any player who checks an opponent or intimidates an opponent while carrying their stick above the waist height of their opponent.

A player who accidentally contacts an opponent above the normal height of his shoulders with a high stick shall be assessed a Major penalty, whether or not injury results.

Unsportsmanlike
If a player argues about a call, a minor is assessed.
If the ref feels the player deserves a Misconduct, he may go directly to the Misconduct.

Goal Crease:
No opposing player shall be allowed to stand in the semi-circular or regular goal crease.
If any opposing player is found within the goal crease and his team has possession the play shall be stopped immediately and a face-off shall be held at the face-off circle outside the blue line.

Goalie Mask: rule 24c
The Goal Mask rule does not apply in this league.

Helmet: rule 24b
All players must wear a CSA approved helmet with the chin strap properly fastened.

FIGHTING Penalty
There are two choices: a Fighting Major or a Match. If any player who drops his gloves with the intent of fighting will be given a Fighting Match.

Spearing
Butt Ending
Whether contact is made or not if the intent is there, player will be ejected from the game Match Penalty will be assessed.


Penalty Door
If a player leaves the PENALTY BOX DOOR open on his way out and the timekeeper is unable to close the door.
Wait until the offending team gains possession (unless there is a possibility of injury in the PENALTY BOX AREA) then blow the play down and face off where play was stopped.
If possession was gained in the non-offending zone, the face off will come outside the blue line.

Contacting an Official
Any Player who intentionally touches, holds or pushes a referee or off-ice official or deliberately strikes, trips or body checks a referee or off-ice official before, during or after a game shall be suspended for life, subject to a hearing before the Executive Committee.

Play-off standings

TIES IN STANDINGS :
If 2 Teams are tied in the standings the following tie-break steps will be taken in this order:
  1. Most Wins
  2. Goals for divided by (total Goals For plus Goals Against). The higher percentage will advance.
  3. Head to Head Record
  4. Least goals against
  5. Least penalty minutes

If 3 Teams or more are tied in the standings the following tie-break steps will be taken in this order:
  1. Goals for divided by (total Goals For plus Goals Against). The higher percentage will advance
  2. Least goals against
  3. Least penalty minutes ·

THREE PENALTIES IN ONE GAME

a. 1st Offence

Any player who is assessed three (3) penalties in one game shall be ruled off the ice for the remainder of the game. The third penalty shall be served by another player from his team.

b. 2nd Offence

The same rules apply as above for the 1st offence, plus the offending player shall receive an automatic game suspension.

c. 3rd Offence

The same rules apply as for the 1st offence, plus the offending player shall receive an automatic three (3) game suspension. If the player has a previous suspension for other than this offence, the player may be subject to a hearing before the League Executive Committee.

c. 4th Offence

The same rules apply as for the first offence, plus the offending player shall receive an automatic ten (10) game suspension and be subject to a hearing before the League Executive Committee.


MISCONDUNT PENALTY

a. 1st Offence

Any player who is assessed a misconduct penalty during a game shall serve the penalty assessed.

b. 2nd Offence

Automatic two (2) game suspension.

c. 3rd Offence

Automatic suspension and subject to a hearing before the League Executive Committee.


GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTY

a. 1st Offence

Offending player is suspended for the balance of the game except if the penalty occurs in the last ten (10) minutes of the game, the offending player shall be suspended for one (1) game.

b. 2nd Offence

Automatic three (3) game suspension.

c. 3rd Offence

Automatic suspension and subject to a hearing before the League Executive Committee.


MAJOR PENALTY

Any player assessed a major Penalty, including a goalkeeper, shall be ruled off the Ice for the balance of the game. (Major Penalty plus a game Misconduct) It shall be necessary to place a substitute on the penalty bench immediately.

*** Note: The only exception to this is when a Major Penalty has been assessed for an accidental high stick.

a. 1st Offence

One (1) game suspension

b. 2nd Offence

Five (5) game suspension

c. 3rd Offence

Automatic suspension and subject to a hearing before the League Executive Committee


GROSS MISCONDUCT PENALTY

a. 1st Offence

Automatic three (3) game suspension.

b. 2nd Offence

Automatic suspension and subject to a hearing before the League Executive Committee.


FIGHTING

Five minute penalty and out of the game

a. 1st Offence

Out of game plus 5 game suspension

b. 2nd Offence

Out of game and subject to hearing before the League Executive Committee


MATCH PENALTIES

a. 1st Offence

Automatic five (5) game suspension and subject to a review and/or hearing before the League Executive Committee.

b. 2nd Offence

Automatic expulsion from the League and notification to C.A.R.H.A.
